State of Progress of Works Inside the Monument as of September 2014
To complete our documentation we are providing a summary table of our state of progress of works as of September 2014 that will be updated regularly as work progresses and in line with the funds spent.
It should be noted that what we describe as “finished works” are interventions that we have been able to carry out inside the monument. Consolidation work, mainly on the vaults, will be supplemented with further interventions as soon as we can uncover their external surfaces after excavations in the gardens of the Oppian Hill.
More than a year after the State of Emergency was revoked, with funds for the monument being paid into a specific chapter of the Soprintendenza’s Ordinary Budget, we thought it appropriate to simplify the plan showing the state of progress of interventions, describing these simply in the key as: finished works, works in progress and works in the tender stage, regardless of the source of funding used.
In Rooms 31 and 32 we have finished securing the decorated surfaces of the vaults and are about to begin work on the wall plaster.
In Rooms 56 to 64 the tender procedures have been completed and work has started, beginning with the securing of the decorated surfaces in Rooms 59, 60 and 63.
It should also be noted that we are continuing to eliminate the old lighting system, replaced with new led lights.
