Special opening

The Special Superintendency for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome, in collaboration with Pierreci-Codess, is organizing, from 7 February to 30 March 2011, guided tours for groups in two different sites that are ordinarily closed to the public: the House of Livia and the Oratory of the Forty Martyrs.

On Thursday 27 January, within the area of the Roman Forum, a new visiting path was inaugurated, leading from the Via Nova to the Via Sacra through the House of the Vestals, newly open to the public.

Presentation of a project

On 21 January an agreement between Diego Della Valle and the the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities was signed for the restoration work of the Colosseum.

Special opening

From 26 November new sectors of the archaeological complex of Villa of the Quintilii will be open to the public after a rigorous campaign of excavation and restoration as well as works aimed at providing public access.

The new area encompasses a residential sector (about 4,000 square metres) with a large exedra, originally provided with columns whose bases have been found on the spot that served as a scenographic entrance to a circular dining hall and also as a link for the diverse sectors of the complex, notably the imposing garden.
